Court Statistics
The statistical tables below document Wyoming District Court and Circuit Court cases for Fiscal Year 2007 (July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007), Fiscal Year 2008 (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008), Fiscal Year 2009 (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009), Fiscal Year 2010 (July 1 2009 to June 30, 2010), and Fiscal Year 2011 (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011). An accurate count of new cases filed is important in ensuring statistical integrity. These statistics are used for several purposes:
  1. Updating the Wyoming Judicial District Court and Circuit Court Weighted Workload Models and the Clerical Circuit Court Weighted Workload Model annually;
  2. Providing statistical information to the Wyoming Legislature and outside funding agencies to document caseload trends;
  3. Assessing compliance with federal law (e.g., the Adoption and Safe Families Act in juvenile cases); and
  4. Providing caseload data to the National Center for State Courts’ annual report, Examining the Work of State Courts, funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
Below is a set of pages explaining some details of creating these statistics.
  1. Standardization of Case Counting Across the State
  2. Different Case Categories in the Circuit Court Judicial and Clerical Weighted Workload Models
  3. Source for the Statistics
  4. Graphical Depiction of District Court and Circuit Court Filings for FY2007 and FY2011
