Requests & Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan Policy
For In-State and Out-of-State Libraries
The Wyoming State Law Library participates directly in the State VDX Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system powered by Fretwell-Downing. The law library will permit loans to both in-state and out-of-state libraries making their requests through this system. The Law Library will also entertain requests made via mail, fax, e-mail or library website online form by out-of-state libraries. All requesting libraries must have agreed to abide by established ILL protocols for the borrowing of materials. No charges shall be assessed for these loans.
For Wyoming State Agencies
The Law Library will also directly entertain requests made via mail, fax, e-mail or library website online form by any Wyoming state agency or institutional facility. No charges shall be assessed for these loans.
Wyoming Materials For Out-of-State Agencies or Attorneys
When the Law Library is contacted directly by an out-of-state or federal governmental entity for materials that are only available in the Wyoming State Law Library, it is preferred that copies be made and sent; however, the law librarian has discretion to loan the materials if there is a great amount of material being requested. No copy charge will be assessed to such a governmental entity.
When the Law Library is contacted directly by an out-of-state educational institution or attorney for materials that are only available in the Wyoming State Law Library, it is preferred that copies be made and sent (with appropriate copy charges assessed); however, the law librarian has discretion to loan the materials if there is a great amount of material being requested. No charge will be made if materials are loaned.
For Members of the Wyoming Bar
The Law Library will loan and mail materials directly to members of the Wyoming Bar with offices outside of Cheyenne. However, the Law Library will not mail materials to members of the Wyoming Bar who have their offices in Cheyenne. No charges shall be assessed for these loans.
For the Public
Under no circumstances will the Law Library mail materials directly to a non-attorney. Non-attorneys must come to the Law Library or make their requests through the established ILL system. No charges shall be assessed for these loans.
Outgoing Requests
The State Law Library will only entertain outgoing ILL borrowing requests for materials directly related to legal research. Persons desiring to make an ILL request through the State Law Library may do so through the online catalog (WYLDCAT) which will be forwarded to Law Library staff for processing or they may make a request directly with a law librarian. The Wyoming State Law Library does not charge to make requests. However, the person making the request is responsible for any charges assessed by the lending library.
The Wyoming State Law Library reserves the right to deny any ILL request.
